The Amazing Horse

I recently had one of my non-horsey friends over to the ranch for a visit and a trail ride.  She is a friend that lives in town and has only been around a horse a few times in her life. She was so excited to go to the stable and see the horses in an up close and personal fashion.  She was amazed at their size, soft muzzle and barbed whiskers.  She reached out to give Woody a treat and there was pure joy in her eyes when he picked it up ever so softly from the palm of her hand.  In watching her, I felt pretty guilty not appreciating the simple pleasures of these magnificent creatures.  I go out every day to feed, ride and take care of my horses, but it has become so routine that I think that I have been missing special moments and taking in their unique qualities.  We are so lucky as horse owners to have these wonderful animals in our lives.  If you are a horse owner let’s all remember to stop and smell the horse poop!
