Re-watching Old Movies
My husband and I were channel surfing and even though we have 500 channels, we couldn’t find anything that we were interested in watching. We ended up choosing a free movie from the romantic comedy section , “As Good as it Gets” starring Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt. I remember from watching this movie in the theater, that Jack Nicholson was portrayed as an obsessive-compulsive character, but I didn’t remember Helen Hunt’s character being so anxiety ridden. It is interesting to me that when you watch a movie after many years, how your perspective is so different. I didn’t see this anxiety in Helen Hunt’s character many years ago. I suppose years of experience (and having your own children) gives you the ability to see things much more clearly. I am convinced now that Melvin and Carol were perfectly suited for each other because they each had their own “character flaws” and helped each other manage them. My favorite all time line in the movie will always be “you make me want to be a better man'“ This may just be the perfect line for a gentleman!
