A Horseless Vacation?

My husband is not a “horse guy”. by any means. His typical response to everyone that asks “if he rides horses too?'“ is no, that he is just the hired hand. At least once a year, his request is that we travel on vacation without the horses.  I fully understand his position and cooperate with no argument. This year we planned an amazing cruise on Royal Caribbean and I was really looking forward to it because we were planning to see some islands that we had never visited.

I have to admit though, the preparation required to prepare for the trip almost made me not want to leave!  After organizing my horses feed, writing instructions on each horses baggie, leaving money for the farrier for his visit on Wednesday, and dropping the little dog at a friends house for the week left me exhausted from the preparation and just wanted to stay home!

In the end, the trip ended up being fabulous and I was even able to get a little horse fix by going on a trail ride in St Maarten.  My horse Commando, was a beautiful site to see and had that beautiful horse scent that I was craving by day 5.  We rode around the shoreline and finished the ride with a swim in the ocean.  The water was crystal blue.  Amazing!  By day 6, I was missing my critters at home and couldn’t wait to snuggle my little Annie dog.  I’m relieved and glad that I was able to keep my best sponsor, my husband, happy.  Until next year...
