A Barrel Racers New Years

It is New Year’s Eve and you would think it is a time when most ladies want to buy a cute outfit and attend a fabulous party.  For the barrel racer it’s an opportunity for 3 days of barrel racing fun.  It occurred to me today that barrel racers are truly cut from a different cloth.  We are a group of ladies that love our dream horses, pretty clothes, but will forgo the glittered dress and attending that cool party if there is a barrel race on the calendar.   We prefer a instead a cozy sweatshirt and camping with our fellow barrel racers and our equine partners.  We spend out money on a horseshoe instead of heels. As I sit here in my cozy living quarters trailer with my crazy haired dog on my lap, I relish the opportunity to do what I love.  Happy New Year!  Here’s to a great 2019.
